FORT KENT, Maine - The fundraising arm of the Fort Kent Public Library, Les Amis de la Bibliothèque Publique de Fort Kent, has gathered a generous collection of holiday goodies, gift certificates to local businesses, books, and a handmade basket for a raffle to support the mission of the library. On Wednesday, November 5, staff at the Fort Kent Public Library received training on the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Registered Nurse Mackenzie Dubay of NMMC volunteered her time and expertise at the FKPL monthly staff meeting. She showed everyone how to start the machine and follow the clear instructions it gives in the unfortunate case there is a need to restart someone's heart. The work on the traffic lights seems like it's been going on for months, but this week we've all noticed the bucket trucks working on the powerline poles near Pleasant Street and Main in Fort Kent. On Wednesday, there were as many as four cherry picker going at the same time, along with flaggers methodically sending traffic through the busy intersection.
