Fort Kent Public Library - Newsletter 54 - Week 2 - November '26
The Librarian’s Messy Desk
From a little search I did regarding the temperatures in northern Maine these past few weeks, I learned some interesting factoids. According to Dr. Google, temperatures in November typically range from 26F at night to 42F. The Highest temperature on record for the month was 73F, set on November 2, 1950. The lowest temperature recorded was -14F on November 25, 1956. Most meteorologists seem to think the mild temps we’ve had originate from the monster El Nino occurring off the west coast of South America. They tell us to expect wet heavy snow for precipitation this winter, with many storms producing wintry mixes. We may also see an early thaw. With the price of fuel oil what it is these days, we won’t complain too much about a mild winter.

Children’s Story Time was especially fun last week on Halloween, with lots of costumes and the special talents of Kalina Conover.
The library is tootling along, but with Veteran’s Day on Wednesday, there are only a few programs occurring next week. We have chair yoga on Monday, Beginner Yoga on Thursday and a book sale on Saturday, November 14.

If you do come in, be sure to snag one of our new bookmarks featuring Acadian and northern Maine themes. Full disclosure, we used AI to make the images. They have our services and hours on the back, and they are pretty darn colorful.
The Library is closed on Wednesday in observance of Veteran’s Day. We’ll also be closed on Thanksgiving, November 26, and Friday, November 27. We will be open the Saturday following Thanksgiving.

There’s always more happening than will fit in the calendar, so be sure to check the website for additional programming in August.
Our Friends at the Rivertown Community Arts Center also have events planned for next week.

That’s all we know is happening next week, but check into the website or visit the library to find out about new programs that could appear out of nowhere.
